Morphology Note
(Applicable to subscription version of the site.)
When a user clicks on a Greek or Latin word in an on-site text it will bring up a triple option menu giving links to a morphology and lexicon entry for the word.
Clicking on "Logeion (Lat) of (Grk) will open a tab with morphology information from the Logeion website at The University of Chicago. If you then click on the root form of the word you will be given a lexicon definition and have access to a number of lexicons.
The Perseus @ Tufts Morphology links are available through the facility offered by the Perseus Digital Library - https://www.perseus.tufts.edu. Clicking on "Perseus @ Tufts" will open a tab with information from their online Morphology and Dictionary. It is recommended that you set the "Configure Display" facility at Perseus to "Unicode (UTF-8)" or "Unicode (UTF-8) with pre-combined accents". Note that not all word forms will be found in the Perseus Morphology. There is nothing that earlychurchtexts.com can do about this. Sometimes Perseus may be a little slow in responding - again there is little that can be done about this.
Clicking on "Perseus @ ECT" will open a tab with a morphology and lexicon (Liddell and Scott or Lewis and Short) which is on an earlychurchtexts linked server. Sometimes (though not guaranteed) this may give morphology information if the Tufts site has not been able to do so. For this resource acknowledgment is given to Perseus for the electronic versions of the lexicons and the morphology lookup facility, and to Peter Heslin, programmer of Diogenes, for some of the code used for the implementation on this site.
Note that the morphology links will not necessarily give you a successful result every time - it is not a system where every word on the site is individually linked to the morphology. Also the dictionaries used may have their roots more in the classical world than the patristic period. Nevertheless it is hoped that this is a valuable resource.
